Drywall dust and cleanup: the honest picture
Drywall dust is the thing homeowners fear most. Fair enough. Sanding joint compound makes fine white dust. It floats. It settles on everything. But a crew with real dust control keeps it in the work zone. Here is how.
How we contain it
Plastic barriers. Floor to ceiling. Sealed with tape. The work zone becomes its own room.
Vents sealed. Returns and supplies in the zone get covered. The HVAC stays clean.
Dust-controlled sanding. We use dust control on sanders. It catches most of it at the source.
Wet methods. Sponge sanding where it fits. Almost no dust at all.
The sanding day
Sanding day is the loud, dusty one. It is also short. One day per phase, usually. We schedule it. We contain it. We clean up after. By evening, the zone is tidy.
What we leave behind
Clean floors. Put-back furniture. Walls ready for paint. The dust leaves with us.
